Christmas Eve In Costa Rica
It's 9:30pm, I have It's A Wonderful Life on TV. But I can hardly hear it because the sound of fireworks exploding all around me is deafening. I have perhaps occasionally exaggerated on this blog, but I am not exaggerating now. I swear. This pounding has been constant since just before dark. Big fireworks, huge booms like cannons and bright sparkly displays everywhere you look. Pretty fun. I hope Santa and those reindeer have quick responses... WOW. One just went off that made me jump in my seat... could be a long night.
You're not exaggerating, truly. We had friends over for xmas eve dinner and we gave up trying to listen to music, I don't think the stereo has a setting loud enough to be heard over the noise here in BsAs - at least not one that won't destroy the speakers. It went on from about 10 p.m. until 2 a.m., when it suddenly just stopped. Completely. Didn't hear anouther firecracker or firework the rest of the night.
