Xavier’s baby sister, Megan, 41, passed away last night. At 32, she discovered she had breast cancer. They gave her four years then. HA! They didn’t know Megan. Pink October

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Pink is the order of the day. My Aunt Susie, my mom’s baby sister, died of breast cancer at the age of 49. My sister in law, Megan, 40, has been fighting the beast for 8 years now. She is losing the battle, but God what a warrior.

Mommy, Megan and Granny Boo

I’m not wanting to write about this because it’s very very sad. Heartbreaking, really. I think it’s why I haven’t been good about blogging the past few days. This topic is sitting on top of everything else. That’s death for you. It is achingly unpleasant. Especially long drawn out death. In my family, two people we love are pretty much waiting to die. Wish I had a good euphemism for that.

Drive-By Mastectomy

This morning I got the following email from my sister in law, Megan, who has been living with breast cancer for 8 years. She is 40, is married and has 3 children, now 9, 11 and 13. She’s had a mastectomy and every other thing they can do to you in the name of medical care. If she wants this bill passed, I’m in.
